PRINCIPIO
Le Principio est une interprétation typographique libre des capitales que l’on observe sur les pages de titre des manuscrits enluminés irlandais et anglais à partir du VIIe siècle. Ces compositions typographiques aux caractères imbriqués et ornés sont d'une richesse graphique époustouflante. Parmi les plus beaux manuscrits qui nous sont parvenus figurent le Livre de Durrow (664–700), les Évangiles de Lindisfarne (700) et le Livre de Kells (Iona et Kells, 800). Le Principio tente de capturer l’esprit de l’art médiéval ancien dans une interprétation géométrique adaptée à une utilisation contemporaine. Les capitales, minuscules et petites capitales peuvent être utilisées séparément ou combinées pour créer une grande variété de tons et de styles. La typographie inclut également un large ensemble de ligatures complexes et d’alternatives onciales, offrant une riche diversité de formes à exploiter.

Principio is a free typographic interpretation of the capitals found on the title pages of illuminated Irish and English manuscripts dating back to the 7th century. These typographic compositions, with their interwoven and ornate characters, are of breathtaking graphic richness. Among the most beautiful manuscripts that have come down to us are the Book of Durrow (664–700), the Lindisfarne Gospels (700), and the Book of Kells (Iona and Kells, 800). Principio seeks to capture the spirit of early medieval art through a geometric interpretation adapted for contemporary use. Capitals, lowercase, and small caps can be used separately or combined to create a wide variety of tones and styles. The typeface also includes an extensive set of intricate ligatures and uncial alternates, offering a rich diversity of forms to explore.
